ABOUT ME

Sophie had her first taste of aerial hoop in 2018 and has been captivated by the art ever since. As an ex-ballerina of 15 years, Sophie loves incorporating the elegance and beauty of dance in the air whilst combining dramatic tricks and breathtaking flexibility. Over the last 6 years Sophie has trained in various aerial schools in the UK developing her skillset on different aerial equipment such as dance trapeze, lollipop hoop, aerial rope, moon, straps and loops.

Sophie has gained several competition titles in 2022 and 2023 including 1st place national title at the UK Amateur Aerial Performers competition and 1st place national title at the UK Aerial Performance Championship in the New Professional category. Sophie takes pride in her choreographed performances and values emotion, musicality and grace in her routines. She has choreographed winning student competition routines and choreography for professional performers. Sophie has also judged live for South West Aerial Championships in 2023.

Sophie also enjoys teaching and spreading the joy that aerial gives. Sophie has a Spin City Hoop certification and currently teaches at Aerial Empire Leeds and runs her own classes at Dance House Normanton. The focus in her classes is on achieving something new and enjoying every second of the process in learning independent flow and style.

When not in the air, Sophie is a Registered Veterinary Nurse and enjoys looking after her two cats Heidi and Hazel.
